Belle Ritter began her professional studies at the High School Of Performing Arts in 1983 where she received training in Classical Ballet, Modern techniques (Graham, Horton and Limon). In addition, Belle has trained at the Bronx Dance Theater, Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Broadway Dance Center and Herbert Berghoff Studios in New York City. She continued to study dance at Purchase College Dance Conservatory, working with choreographers Kevin Wynn, Doug Verone and David Parsons. After two years Belle was encouraged to work professionally taking a leave to perform within the United States and abroad.
Part of her professional career began after landing a contract with Atlantic Records. Appearing in numerous radio and television shows as a member of “Sweet Sensation”, Belle toured for eight years while completing her Bachelor’s degree at Purchase College. She later continued her education in Higher Education Administration at CUNY, Baruch Graduate School.
Belle has always sought opportunities to merge her passion for dance, commitment to family and community with the importance of a well rounded education. In her own community, she has enjoyed producing and directing Peekskill High School’s annual drama performances, is a mentor/dance instructor for high school students in C.A.M.P. Inc., teaches for the LEAP Program and Family University at the Peekskill Middle School. Belle also values volunteer work so you can always find her sharing her heart and talents with our local elementary schools Woodside and Oakside here in Peekskill.
As the owner/director of Dance Networks, in Peekskill, NY, she has been able to create a family environment offering varied styles of classical and social dance classes for all ages. Inspired by her own family, students and colleagues, Belle moves – full force- to open the doors of her dance organization. Whole-heartedly dedicated to diversity in education, she will be instructing her classes in English and Spanish, as well as exploring and including others when the opportunities arise.
With continuing to explore and grow artistically, Belle has now joined Skin Against Metal. Working with Master musician Nanette Garcia, she anticipates many artistic ventures and projects as they collaborate and exchange their own talents.
The door is open to all who wish to find the joy of dancing, in themselves while connecting with others in our diverse community. This is a dance network with a strong foundation in the community and for the community! “Palante, palante....siempre, palante!”
